Introducing GAP

WA

The mission of Greyhounds as Pets WA (GAP) is to encourage and enable greyhound pet ownership through providing safe, healthy greyhounds to homes throughout Western Australia.

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) runs the program as part of its commitment to ensuring the best levels of care for greyhounds at all stages of their lives, through investment, education, monitoring and regulation. When a greyhound retires from racing, at any age, RWWA aims for every healthy and behaviorally sound greyhound to be rehomed.

Greyhounds for Adoption

Dundee

We think there’s nothing like our Dundee! A living legend in his own right, Dundee is chilled out about his place in the universe. With his calm and easy-going disposition, Dundee could live with medium to large sized canine companions.

Murph

Murph ticks just about every box! This playful boy is such an allrounder, he’d be great family member for a variety of homes. Playful, affectionate and social; Murph would win over your family, friends and even passers by on your walks.

Diesel

Get your motor running – here comes Diesel! Diesel is an affectionate and easy-going dog looking for a home where he can be part of the family.

Adopting a Greyhound through GAP is a rewarding experience, and we're here to guide you every step of the way. Here's a simplified overview of the adoption process:

Submit Your Application

Let the GAP team know you’re on the lookout for your great mate by submitting an Adoption Application.

Matchmaking Begins

By using the information in your application, our talented team will find your great match!

Meet Your ‘Hound

Once we’ve found your perfect match, we’ll invite you to meet them at our Southern River facility. All going well, you’ll be able to take them home that day.

Welcome Home

With the guidance provided by the GAP team you’ll welcome your greyhound into your home. We’ll get in touch for regular updates and to provide help as required.

Adoption Day

Most adoptions are “foster-to-adopt”, meaning you have four weeks to get to know your ‘hound and introduce them to pet life. At the end of the four-week period, we’ll invite you to complete the adoption!
